"This is the Story of Blinky Bill and Flap and Nutsy too, and Wombo, Ruff, and Marcia and Splodge the Kangaroo..."

Now before any kind of nostalgic cartoon made my childhood, namely Pokemon and Sailor Moon, along with other shows such as Beast Wars and Animals of Farthing Wood I remember sitting down and watching as a child. Even before any of that came on screen, in the days of me as a toddler, I remember Blinky Bill.
I think Blinky Bill ingrained in me a love of animation that remains with me today, to me, cartoons are not just about entertaining children, to me animation is about capturing movement, life and what surroundes us, it is a way of portraying how we think and feel through another world or dimension, etc.
That was what Blinky Bill was, it exuded such a playful no-worries feel, and the fact that it was set in the Australian outback, with Australian native animals, and made in Australia, made it all the better for me to relate to them. Despite the main characters cheekiness and rebelliousness (a stereotypical factor of Australian attitude) This show had a very stick-by-your-mates moral. A moral that I am clearly trying to portray here, maintaining an innocence of childhood. It really exuded to me the 'bush' way of and the Australian way of life, which was easy for me to relate too
I also loved the look of the setting. Now, HOW many of us kids back in the day didn't want a tree house for a home? That was another awesome part about this cartoon, a majority of the animals lived in trees with little windows and doors, which I thought was the cutest thing ever. Blinky Bill was just a playful delightful romp, and a reminder of the carefree but learning about others childhood that I had, in fact every child, should have.
Good on ya Blinky!!!
