"This is the Story of Blinky Bill and Flap and Nutsy too, and Wombo, Ruff, and Marcia and Splodge the Kangaroo..."

Opening Theme [link]

Now before any kind of nostalgic cartoon made my childhood, namely Pokemon and Sailor Moon, along with other shows such as Beast Wars and Animals of Farthing Wood I remember sitting down and watching as a child. Even before any of that came on screen, in the days of me as a toddler, I remember Blinky Bill.

I think Blinky Bill ingrained in me a love of animation that remains with me today, to me, cartoons are not just about entertaining children, to me animation is about capturing movement, life and what surroundes us, it is a way of portraying how we think and feel through another world or dimension, etc.

That was what Blinky Bill was, it exuded such a playful ‘no-worries’ feel, and the fact that it was set in the Australian outback, with Australian native animals, and made in Australia, made it all the better for me to relate to them. Despite the main characters cheekiness and rebelliousness (a stereotypical factor of Australian attitude) This show had a very “stick-by-your-mates” moral. A moral that I am clearly trying to portray here, maintaining an innocence of childhood. It really exuded to me the 'bush' way of and the Australian way of life, which was easy for me to relate too ;)

I also loved the look of the setting. Now, HOW many of us kids back in the day didn't want a tree house for a home? That was another awesome part about this cartoon, a majority of the animals lived in trees with little windows and doors, which I thought was the cutest thing ever. Blinky Bill was just a playful delightful romp, and a reminder of the carefree but “learning about others” childhood that I had, in fact every child, should have.

Good on ya Blinky!!!

Love this! Would it be at all possible to get a high res image for a children's birthday party that I'm hosting next week? We have a Blinky Bill theme and this would be perfect for the photo booth. Thanks for your consideration!

Why is Nutsy blushing? Isn't she Blinky's stepsister or something?

Yeah. Blinky's mother and Nutsy's father get married at the end of season 1.

Awesome! Must be good being a native and enjoying this show. It seems so familiar! I think they aired this show in the USA but I would be two years old or so if that was the case.

Great work! :]

Interesting enough, my mother and my older sister used to read Blinky Bill (in English, French and Hungarian text since they lived in Europe at the time). I've found some old copies of these books.
Excellent as always btw!

I agree, Cartoons have no story and they "make-fun-of-everything" these days :(

Yeah. They're a few out at the moment and other kid's shows that aren't too bad but most of them seem to do too much 'toilet humour'

Yeah, I mean some toilet humour isn't too bad but when it's the only humour in a cartoon or show it just gets annoying.
