Just came back from watching the sixth installment of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, saw it earlier than expected!
*Warning: Spoilers Ahead!!*
It was the talky chatty Harry Potter rather than action, (whoot! Character Development) thats understandle as it is the bridging story to the final installment of Deathly Hallows which will gurantee loads of action ahead!! For a big book they managed to fit alot in, unlike The third Harry Potter Movie where vital plot info was butchered and thurst aside for these pointless little scenes... >> The Acting has improved considerably even though at times Daniel Radcliffe falls into monotonus acting with his character and Emma Watson acts over the top with her character Hermione (example: when she slaps Harry with a book for been an idiot, it may have been very funny, but to me it just seemed not her character, Harry and Ron fighting for the last good Potions book seemed typical boys though XD)
Speaking of this, Hormones are raging in this one and the romantic comedy gives a sense of relief from what is happening outside the castle walls. Poor Hermione...Stupid ignorant Ron XD However, it was disappointing that it seemed all Ron was for in this movie was romantic comic relief, he showed skillz on the Qudditch pitch though, and that was pretty much his moment to shine

I missed Qudditch and it was good to see it again (and for the last time probably) even if it was for what, 20 minutes in all?
Gone is the bright vibrant lush green atmosphere we see in the first two Potter films, now it is replaced with a dark, misty, foggy enviroment outside and in the castle walls, which gives a sort of Gothic like feel. The opening scene is done brilliantly and you can really see effects put to work here with the attack. Lighting and colour is epic and the camera angles are done well to bring edge to the plot unfolding, espechially how it was set on Dracos "task".
Slughorn, Slughorn, well I expected him to be a bit more buff and well, fatter, than the skittish, scrawny sort of person the actor portrayed, as he is described in the book to be plump and walrus-ey like. But his acting was good, how he showed remorse and fear for what he had done. There was a sweet moment I liked between Slughorn and Harry, with the story about the Goldfish and Lily,

You'll have to see to know what I mean, You can't help but love the old eccentric guy.
Snape, well, he's just Snape

I can't wait for the portrayal of friendship between Lily and Snape though in DH and the reason why he turned good again, When Dumbledore was killed by him my little brother turned to me and goes "OMG WTF?? Snape Killed Dumbledore!!!!" (One who has never read the books) I just sat there and snickered, thinking..."Mwhahahaha, you know nothing, my foolish little brother!!"

I LOVED how at the scene of his death everyone raised their wands and drove the skull cloud away

Now that was REAL symbolism that I absolutely LOVED, that moment was my definate fav, showing that reuniting strong in numbers is something to drive the darkness away. I felt angry just for a moment that Harry wasn't going to read Siruses Brothers Note, I was think "Don't tell me they're not going to show Regeluses note!" and they did, I was happy about that at least

After all about the Half-Blood Prince was solved in a single sentance by Snape, it was not explained why he called himself that

Their was a few disappointments, The Burning of the Burrow was completely unexpected (and was not in the book!) Tonks and Remuses relationship was hardly explored, (where was Tonks confession? the only hint we got of Tonks love for Remus was Tonks calling Remus "sweetheart" and her hair colour of course)
I just really, really hope that we'll get the scene in the next movie(s) where the trio hide in out at Grimmauld Place, Remus comes along and offers to accompany them after saying Tonks is pregnant, which naturally pisses Harry off and begins shouting at Remus for daring to abandon his wife and unborn kid.
The ending felt very rushed after Dumbledores death, it lacked the funeral,I guess they're going to just say he's buried at Hogwarts if they're going to show Voldy retrieving the Elder Wand from his tomb, at least there was a trio moment, and I guess they're going to skip Bill and Fluers wedding in the Deathly Hallows as well...
I give it

& a half star
